University of Texas School of Law alumni at Sullivan & Cromwell practice within a broad range of areas under our General Practice (corporate), Litigation and Estates and Personal groups. S&C partners Bob Sacks (UT ’82) and Karen Seymour (UT ’86) started at the Firm as summer associates and now hold major leadership roles. Bob, who is the Managing Partner of our Los Angeles office and is responsible for the Firm’s litigation practice on the West Coast, has extensive experience in complex business disputes of all types. Karen is a member of S&C's Management Committee; she previously served as Chief of the Criminal Division for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York.

The practice areas of UT Law associates at S&C include capital markets, criminal defense and investigations, financial services, intellectual property litigation, mergers and acquisitions and securities litigation. In addition, several UT alumni at the Firm are actively engaged in our pro bono practice; recent matters include obtaining asylum for an ethnic Hazara woman who worked for the U.S. consulate in Karachi, briefing the appeal of a client’s pro se petition for a writ of habeas corpus, and representing transgendered individuals seeking name changes.

In addition to becoming partners at the Firm, UT Law alumni who join S&C go on to pursue a range of prestigious opportunities. S&C alumni who attended UT Law currently work at Fortune 500 companies (including Priceline Group, Citigroup and Honeywell International), in government positions (including for the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commision and New York State Office of the Attorney General) and in private legal practice in New York, Texas and elsewhere.
