Alison Ressler Participates in ABA Women in M&A Panel and Mock M&A Negotiation at Columbia Law School

On October 25, 2016, partner Alison Ressler (CLS ’83) participated in a panel titled “Women in M&A” at Columbia Law School, presented by the American Bar Association’s Women in M&A Task Force. The panel covered topics relevant to law students considering careers in M&A, such as the representation of women in the legal profession; why women should pursue a career in M&A; which lifestyle challenges for corporate professionals are true versus which are myths; and what women can do to succeed in the field.

Alison also participated in a mock negotiation titled “Negotiating the M&A Deal: A Mock Negotiation of a Corporate Acquisition” at Columbia Law School later that day. The panel included seasoned M&A lawyers from major law firms across the United States, who staged an interactive “mock negotiation,” illustrating the “give-and-take” in a contentious negotiation involving a middle-market acquisition of a privately held company, and focusing on some of the more controversial provisions included in the definitive acquisition agreement.
