Alumni of Georgetown University Law Center at Sullivan & Cromwell practice within a broad range of areas under our General Practice (corporate), Litigation and Tax groups in our domestic and international offices.
Georgetown’s commitment to public service and focus on international legal practice is reflected in its alumni at S&C, many of whom are actively involved in pro bono work, frequently represent international clients and/or work in our foreign offices. Recent pro bono matters undertaken by GULC alumni include obtaining a favorable settlement agreement with the New York City Housing Authority in a nonpayment-of-rent proceeding, successful representation of foster parents in their petition to adopt a child whom they had cared for since he was an infant, and representation of an indigent client in a criminal action in the Northern District of California. In addition to partner John O’Connor (GULC ’85), who has worked in the Firm’s New York and Melbourne offices and has been based in London since 1997, several GULC alumni currently at the Firm have rotated or are rotating through our foreign offices, including Melbourne and Tokyo.
In addition to becoming partners at the Firm, GULC alumni who join S&C go on to pursue a range of prestigious opportunities. S&C alumni who attended GULC currently work in finance, government, private practice and as law professors, among other positions.
In 2019, four Georgetown Law students joined us for our summer associate program. You can learn more about GULC alumni at S&C and our presence at the law school on these pages. We hope to see you on campus.
