Partner Sarah Payne participated in the Women in Law Hackathon, an event created by the Diversity Lab in collaboration with Stanford Law School and Bloomberg Law. The hackathon aims “to generate innovative ideas and solutions that will lead to greater retention and advancement of experienced women in law firms.” For six months, 54 law firm partners worked together in virtual teams with expert advisers and Stanford Law School students to design solutions to these issues. On June 24, 2016, the hackathon culminated in a pitch event at Stanford Law School, where participants pitched their ideas to a panel of judges. The top three winning teams won a donation by Bloomberg Law to their choice of a non-profit organization that benefits women. In addition, there were two teams tied for “crowd favorite,” one of which was the team that Sarah was on, which also won donations to their choice of non-profit organizations.
