Alumni of Boston College Law School at Sullivan & Cromwell practice within a broad range of areas under our General Practice (corporate) and Litigation Groups. Two S&C partners are alumnae of the Law School, Sharon Nelles and Rita O'Neill. Sharon Nelles (BC ’93), Managing Partner of the Firm's Litigation Group and a member of the Firm's Management Committee, represents financial institutions and global companies in civil litigation, regulatory, congressional and criminal investigations and enforcement actions. Rita O’Neill (BC ’04), a Los Angeles-based partner in the Firm’s General Practice Group and co-head of the Global Private Equity Group, advises clients on mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings, and provides general corporate advice on disclosure and governance. Recently, Sharon Nelles and Rita O’Neill were recognized at the Euromoney Americas Women in Business Law Awards. Sharon was recognized as Best in Litigation, and Rita was recognized as the Rising Star for Corporate.
In keeping with Boston College Law School’s commitment to social and economic justice and service to others, many BC Law alumni are actively involved in pro bono and volunteer work. Sharon is the assistant treasurer of Judges & Lawyers Breast Cancer Alert (JALBCA); Rita-Anne has represented Valor Academy, a charter school in North Hollywood, California, in its corporate formation, governance and application to the Internal Revenue Service for tax-exempt status. Associate pro bono work has included immigration and Social Security proceedings.
In addition to becoming partners of the Firm, BC Law alumni who join S&C go on to pursue a range of prestigious opportunities. S&C alumni who attended BC Law School currently work as general counsels of Fortune 500 companies and directors of financial institutions, among other positions.
We hope you will take the time to learn more about BC alumni, our presence at the law school and how to apply on these pages.
