Brooklyn Law School alumni at Sullivan & Cromwell practice in both our General Practice (corporate) and Litigation Groups. The Firm currently has four partners who attended Brooklyn Law: Frank Aquila (Brooklyn ’83), Brian Frawley (Brooklyn ’93), Jeffrey Scott (Brooklyn ’96) and Matt Porpora (Brooklyn ’05).

Frank Aquila is a partner in the Firm’s Mergers and Acquisitions Group, and a member of the Firm’s Management Committee. He has been repeatedly cited as one of the world’s leading M&A lawyers and also regularly counsels boards of directors and board committees on corporate governance, crisis management and matters affecting corporate policy and strategy.

Brian Frawley is a partner in the Firm’s Litigation Group and co-head of its M&A litigation practice. His practice focuses on a broad range of complex securities, derivative and commercial litigation, litigation arising out of mergers & acquisitions, as well as the defense of significant regulatory matters.

Jeffrey Scott is a partner in Sullivan & Cromwell’s Litigation Group. He represents leading global companies and financial institutions in securities, shareholder derivative, ERISA, banking and other complex commercial litigation, as well as regulatory and criminal investigations. He currently serves as one of two partners in charge of our litigation training programs.

Matt Porpora was elected to the partnership in 2016 and is a partner in the Firm’s Litigation Group. He is also that group's Associate Development Partner and, as such, oversees staffing, reviews, and various other administrative matters. He represents leading global companies and financial institutions in securities, antitrust, banking, commodities and other complex commercial litigation, as well as in regulatory and criminal investigations.

While maintaining a generalist approach to their practices, Brooklyn Law alumni at the Firm focus on a broad range of matters, including appellate, antitrust, bank regulatory, bankruptcy, commodities, futures and derivatives, corporate governance, criminal defense and investigations, financial services, healthcare and life sciences, intellectual property and technology transactions, litigation, mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, and securities. Prior to joining S&C, several Brooklyn Law alumni clerked, including in the Eastern Districts of New York and Pennsylvania.

In addition to becoming partners and leaders at the Firm, Brooklyn Law alumni who join S&C go on to pursue a range of prestigious opportunities. S&C alumni who attended Brooklyn Law School currently work in advertising, finance, government, higher education, investment and wealth management, pharmaceuticals and private equity.
