The Firm is strongly committed to pro bono and other public service activities, including in leading civil rights cases, with both partners and associates making meaningful contributions to these activities. Our lawyers are involved in a wide variety of nonprofit organizations and boards, such as educational institutions, civil rights organizations, hospitals and cultural centers.
In 2018, S&C devoted more than 63,000 hours to a range of pro bono activities, achieving results for myriad individuals and for legal, charitable and government organizations. S&C’s efforts include individual pro bono initiatives and ongoing, long-term “signature projects.” To learn more about our signature pro bono projects, our recent pro bono activity and our pro bono committee, click here.
S&C's commitment to community extends to the S&C family as well as the environment. Both our New York and Washington, D.C. offices have earned LEED Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Our Los Angeles office is applying for LEED certification, and our offices around the world engage in a variety of greening efforts by participating in recycling programs that benefit charitable organizations; composting; recycling paper, metal, toner and electricals; and tapping renewable energy sources.
