S&C's Hong Kong office has been recruiting trainee solicitors since 2012. We see our trainees as the future associates and partners of the Firm. Our goal is to recruit up to four trainees each year to ensure that our Hong Kong office and Hong Kong law practice continue to enjoy steady, organic growth.
We offer you the opportunity to do superior work, meet and work with exceptional people, and grow in a supportive culture. We distinguish our trainee program by offering genuine and direct mentoring from partners and other senior lawyers who take a keen interest in your career development.
We recruit the very best law graduates with strong academic credentials in all subjects. We value candidates who are team players and who have genuine intellectual curiosity, integrity, common sense, commercial awareness and an ambition to succeed as a lawyer at one of the world’s leading law firms. Applicants for training contracts should be in their penultimate year or beyond. Graduates and post-graduates are also eligible for consideration.
Our training and mentoring program enables our trainees to become confident associates. Each trainee has the opportunity to work with all our partners in the China offices and be exposed to a wide variety of work, ensuring that they are engaged and challenged. Our trainees are guided by lawyers who are leaders in their fields and provide the guidance needed to make the transition from academic study to legal practice.
Training contracts with S&C cover at least three practice areas as required by the Law Society of Hong Kong. We believe in a generalist approach in training whereby all of our trainees and associates have the opportunity to work on corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory and compliance, banking and finance, capital markets and other practice areas relevant to our clients’ needs.
To apply for a training contract, please e-mail your cover letter, resume and updated transcripts to [email protected].
Our Hong Kong office recruits trainees two years in advance. Applications for our 2025 trainee intake will begin November 1, 2022. Please see our Hong Kong Summer/Winter Vacation Scheme page, if you wish to apply for a summer internship.
