Sullivan & Cromwell’s Paris-based team includes complementary French and U.S. law practices, and focuses on mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt capital markets, private equity, litigation and tax.
Our Paris lawyers generally have the opportunity to work in a wide range of practice areas, such that they are eventually able to handle any type of issue for our clients. The Paris office is renowned for its involvement in the most sophisticated and innovative transactions in M&A in France, Europe and throughout the world.
Thanks to our small-firm culture and large-firm resources, our Paris office is able to offer its clients tailored services backed by the experience and know-how of a prominent international law firm that has been involved for decades in historical financial transactions all over the globe, from the construction of the Panama Canal in the early 20th century to the complex transactions arising from the financial crisis.
There are 23 lawyers in the Paris office, most of whom are both French- and U.S.-qualified, including several who lecture at prominent universities.
Lawyers in the Paris office act on behalf of multinationals, banks, investment funds and government entities, as well as small and medium-sized companies and a small number of individuals.
We handle both French transactions and cross-border deals with no direct connection to France. Thanks to our U.S.-qualified lawyers, we can oversee locally any American aspect of a French transaction.
S&C's customized approach to learning and development offers associates an effective balance of on-the-job learning, experience and information-sharing combined with specific training programs tailored to each individual associate, office and practice area.

These lawyers sometimes start in one of the Firm's U.S. offices or may join the Paris office directly. Applicants for associate positions must be enrolled in or have successfully completed a U.S. J.D. or U.S. LL.M. program or Canadian equivalent.
